Hello, I am Sarah Aubuchon.
This portfolio has given me the opportunity to put together my best work and resources in one collective place. I strive to be my best self every day and I feel that this website has allowed me to show both my strengths and weaknesses that make me the person that I am today. I am very fortunate to have been able to access the education and opportunities that are presented on this website. As a means to stay up-to-date on my skills and experiences, I have decided to add to this website and update it regularly.
About Me, Personally
I was born and raised in California but moved to the Southern region of the U.S. the beginning of my high school career. I had a passion for medicine and being a doctor when I grew up. That quickly changed when I went off to college. Having played softball my entire life, I was fortunate enough to attend Centre College and play college softball. It was at Centre College that I found a passion for international studies and history. I had quite the college experience playing softball with my teammates, traveling around the south for games, and studying abroad during my undergraduate studies. I was able to visit five different countries while taking classes in history and international studies. Outside of school, I love hanging out with my friends and family, traveling to new places, relaxing at the lake, and making memories with the people who are closest to me. I am currently searching for a new role that allows me to apply my skills and knowledge. I am driven and passionate in all that I do and I am confident that I will be a great addition to the security field when given the opportunity.
About Me, Professionally
I received my Masters of Arts degree in International Security Studies from the University of Arizona. While I was there, I had the opportunity to dive deeper into the geopolitical sphere and fine-tune in on the continent of Africa. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and History from Centre College. It was there that I discovered my passion for international issues and my determination to make the world a better place.
During my studies, I extensively studied the continent of Africa and focused on topics including security issues, human rights issues, developmental issues, and socioeconomic policy issues. I have studied in-depth on various national and international security issues and groups that pose a threat to the greater world, international law, and geopolitics. Not only have I looked at these issues through what would be a national security standpoint, but I have also looked at a number of these issues through a financial standpoint, such as treaties and agreements that focus on financial initiatives and how these initiatives benefit many parties.
I have used ArcGis software to create maps on various topics ranging from plotting data points for international security threats to mapping out fire regions to see if individuals are in evacuation zones. In addition to this, I have experience using mass communication programs such as Everbridge, and am familiar with programs such as LexisNexus.
My goal is to work in the national security sphere, doing intelligence analysis or counterintelligence work. I am familiar with GEOINT and OSINT, as I have applied these in my past job. Another job that I am interested in is research and analysis work on national and intentional security topics. I have great research and analysis skills and have experience using the Uppsala Conflict Data Program and the Global Terrorism Database. I also bring passion and determination to make an impact in the world and I know I can do that by being in the national or international security field. I possess communication, time management, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills. I also bring an excitement to learn new things and gain new knowledge on world affairs.
